The Role

 

This is a seasonal position assisting the US Open Officiating team with distribution of materials and supplies before and during the US Open. This attendant will also assist the Chief Umpire Staff in maintaining the US Open Umpire areas. 

Duties include but are not limited to:

Clothing Distribution:

  • Assist USTA staff with receiving, sorting, and distributing US Open Umpire’s Uniforms
  • Execute Clothing Distribution at the Officials' Hotel in NYC

 

Ball Distribution:

  • Prepare the Ball Distribution space every day
  • Pre-pack ball bags each morning before 9:15 am, then as needed throughout the day
  • Maintain supply of like-wear balls
  • Empty ball bags upon chair umpire’s return
  • Maintain awareness of match schedule
  • Ensure that two different versions of tennis balls are separated from each other
  • Manage tennis ball recycling program
  • Maintain a highly organized and streamlined work space

 

  

Who You Are

 

  • Proficient English fluency required; fluency in other languages is a plus
  • Ability to interact with a diverse group of officials and staff to provide the highest level of customer service
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills 
  • Basic math and counting skills
  • Able and willing to lift boxes and sort inventory of uniforms and tennis balls
  • Competency with MS Word, MS Excel, and Google Workspace
  • Professional, courteous communications - verbal and written
  • Able to remain calm in a focused, fast-paced, and sometimes stressful environment
  • Comfortable walking and standing for extended periods of time
  • Knowledge of Tennis is preferred but not required
  • Must be available to work the entire duration of the US Open (August 23rd - September 14th); shift is tentatively 8:00am to 8:00pm

Pay Rate: $18-20 per hour; Overtime eligible

Daily meal allowance of $50 from Aug 23-Sept 14 via credential
